THIS-IS-ME-AND-THIS-IS-WHAT-I-MAKE

Hello and welcome, I am a visual artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina

I am so proud the be able to say out loud “I am an artist” because it has taken many, many years to be able to reach this stage.

I live in Melbourne, Australia and have been painting ever since I arrived in this country in 1976. However I have been creating with my hands ever since I can remember.

My paintings are organic and intuitive, conveying a landscape of thoughts and feelings, representing the inner, rather than the outward, objective world.

Nature and natural elements like meadows and fields of flowers and the etheric (painted more in an abstract style) are a constant theme in my works which also mirror the constant state of transformation and change in nature. I love this metaphor.

I represent these, in a semi abstract expressionistic style on large canvases and paper, using acrylic paints, collage elements and mixed media, creating lots of layers or “stories”.

My process in a nutshell: Activating the blank canvas by writing words of gratitude and blessings, either on the floor or on an easel. Applying paint freely with no preconceived idea of the finished painting. I keep layering and layering until the stage comes where I need to arrange the elements, focus on shape, contrast and repetition to strengthen the composition.

Being present while painting is key and releasing any restrictions as to how it “should look like”. This intuitive and creative style is very freeing and liberating.

I am a non-linear thinker, normally working on at least 3 paintings at a time, because this way it satisfies the different appetites I may have in any given day/week. It’s like not eating the same meal everyday.

Art is very therapeutic and one of the ways to be in the present moment; in the here and now.  I can honestly say that my painting practice has always got me through challenging times and has been a constant stream of joy and delight since I was little.

The aim of my art is to uplift, inspire and bring joy to people. I want it to be differential, not realistic, by suggesting “something”, in this way the viewer is invited to participate, adding themselves to the chain of thought and feelings and therefore completing my work.

To art and mental wellbeing!
